[news to us] Stream tracks from BLASTED CANYONS Debut LP via Aquarius Records

Just came across this sick debut LP from San Francisco's BLASTED CANYONS, out now on Castle Face Records (run by John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees). From what I can gather, Blasted Canyons is a new collaboration between Matt Jones of Master Slash Slave, Heather Fedewa of Wax Idols, and Adam Finken. Anyone interested in the garage/psych mega wave plowing through San Francisco these days will immediately dig this, which contains some of the loudest, rawest, "synth-punk garage jams" I've heard recently. You can stream some tracks over at Aquarius Records while they're available, and then order your own copy. Right now this LP is only out on vinyl, but we expect to see some CDs/MP3s soon. Check it out!

[news to us] Al Lover releases "Psychedelic Reinterpretations of Contemporary Rock n' Roll"

Just stumbled across this FREE bandcamp release by remix artist Al Lover. I don't know much about this dude, but just from browsing through his releases (including remixes of Captain Beefheart's 'Safe as Milk' Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, and various artists on Woodsist), I'd say he's on the level. This time Al has released an insane 10 track album called "Distorting Reverberations (of Reverberating Distoration): Psychedelic Remixes of Contemporary Rock n' Roll," featuring remixes of some of our favorite groups, a few of which have been featured here. Stand-out tracks include White Fence's "Sticky Fruitman Has Faith," Ty Segall's "Fist Heart Mighty Dawn Dart," King Tuff's "Sun Medallion," Natural Child's "White Man's Burden," and Jeff The Brotherhood's "Hey Friend." Those of you who aren't really into DJ music will probably groan through this one, but if you're willing to give it a chance, I think you'll find it pretty sweet. Preview it below, then head to bandcamp to download it and some of Al Lover's other remixes.

[news to us] Thee Oh Sees release new 2 LP Singles Collection; New record "Castlemania" out 6/14

With a group that is as monumentally prolific as Thee Oh Sees, one can only hope that someday, they would release some kind of collection of their numerous singles so we don't have to go crazy to get our hands on every last 7". Lucky for us, this day has come. Thee Oh Sees have just released "Singles, Vol. 1 & 2" on Castleface Records. Its a 2LP collection on red and green vinyl of ALL Thee Oh Sees singles, as well as some previously unreleased tunes. Its limited edition, but you can pick up some copies now over at Aquarius Records. Check out the opener "Carol Ann" below:

ALSO be sure to keep your ears open for the new Oh Sees album "Castlemania" coming out June 14th. From what I've heard (via Brooklyn Vegan), "Castlemania" is much more in the weirdo folk canon of Thee Oh Sees' sound. You can check out the cover art and "I Need Seed" below:
