[show] Fat History Month 7" Release at Charlie's Kitchen 10/24

Fat History Month has been pretty busy this year. In between national tours, a 7" single on Bedroom Suck Records, and 12" LP on Sophomore Lounge, the boys are getting ready to release a new single titled Gorilla on Sweaters and Pearls. Originally recorded in March 2009, Gorilla finally gets the release it deserves on beautiful banana yellow 7" vinyl. Preview the track "Heart Takes A Beating," (one of my all time favorite FHM tunes) below via Bandcamp, and then head out to their Charlie's Kitchen Release Show tomorrow night to pick up your own copy. They'll be playing with buddies Thief Theif and Celestial Shores. See you there!

[news to us] FAT HISTORY MONTH "Fucking Despair" Pre-Order / Download Available; Homecoming / Record Release Show 8/20 @ The Hen House

If you're anything like me, you've been missing FAT HISTORY MONTH this past week. After playing the Allston DIY fest last Saturday the boys started their month long tour with buddies Ugh God (you can check out the dates via Ugh God's site). Apparently some pre-release copies of their new 12" Fucking Despair got left behind, and I've been kicking myself that I didn't get my hands on one. Luckily for me (and the rest of you who weren't so lucky), Fucking Despair is now available for pre-order through Sophomore Lounge, AND you can stream side A (below) or download the whole record via Fat History's bandcamp page. I highly recommend you do both, and then get psyched for their homecoming show August 20th with tour mates Ugh God, The Soupcans, Saralee, Pile, & Graph at The Hen House (RSVP). This bill already has legendary status, so I suggest you mark your calendars now! See you there!

Fat History Month - "No Safe" (Fucking Despair) Sophomore Lounge, 2011

In my one of my recent posts about Boston anti-heroes SKIMASK, I mentioned a supposed "list" of bands I am proud to see representing Boston's underground scene. If this "list" really existed, my all time local fav's Fat History Month would definitely be on it. When I see Fat History play (and I've seen them countless times), it is hard for me to resist the urge to grab every person I know and demand that they listen to this band. In the current sea of Boston bands, much like their buddies SKIMASK, Fat History Month clearly stands out as one of the most original, interesting, and engaging bands playing in the city right now. This should be no surprise to anyone who has seen them live, and if you haven't, you should fucking get on that. I could literally continue to gush for pages about these guys, but I think they'd like it better if I just let their music do the talking. That being said, here is "No Safe," a track from Fat History's upcoming LP "Fucking Despair" on Sophomore Lounge records. Clocking in at 1:45, its clearly just a tease of whats to come, but I'm already psyched. The record comes out in August, but the band hopes to have some tape/CD previews of the album available at their summer tour kick-off show with buddies Ugh God at Problem House 7/23. So check out the tune below for a taste-but if you need some more, they gots a bandcamp page.

And yeah. The cover's got a pear with a dick on it.
