Some bands can't help but exude great fun vibes...even when writing tunes about dead pop legends. Hands And Knees' new 7" single "James Brown died on Christmas Day" has all the elements of a perfect pop tune: hand claps, spacey "ooohs", tight breaks, a food stompin' tempo, and of course, a great hook. I guess some could classify this homage to the "hardest working man in show business" as a Christmas song, but for me, its just a great example of a band that seems to be as psyched to play their music as I am to listen to it.
You can check out/download this single via their bandcamp page. While you are there, make sure to check out their new LP "Wholesome", which comes out January 2011. Hands and Knees are playing this Wednesday 12/1 at the Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge as part of our new "pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS Presents" showcase. They'll be joined by our excellent buddies Magic Magic! This show should not be missed under any circumstances. If you enjoy Hands and Knees energy on this track...just wait till you see them LIVE.
